Dog Trainer Training - You Have To Be The Leader

There are so many people that let their dogs walk all over them. As the owner of the dog YOU have to be his leader.

INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA - APRIL 24: Cloned puppie...There are so many people that let their dogs walk all over them. As the owner of the dog YOU have to be his leader.

Remember that dogs have a pack mentality. They will always follow the leader. If you don't take that job, the dog (even unwillingly) will take that responsibility from you.

So instead of giving you some dog, here are some dog trainer training tips for you. Now, obviously some breeds of dogs are naturally more dominant, while others are naturally more submissive.

It doesn't matter what kind of dog you have. If they don't have leadership, they will become an alpha dog.

First off (this one is really simple) just feed the dog after you have eaten. The leader will always eat first in any pack.

With this the dog can distinguish and say "hey, I guess humans eat first. I guess I have to wait for my meal" When you place the bowl of food down for him to eat, you might have a dog that's real jumpy and excited.

This is the perfect time to train him that he has to wait for the bowl to be placed down. Use firm words like SIT and STAY while placing the bowl down. If he still acts up, take the food away, and try it again 5 minutes later.

Keep doing this until he gets the concept, that YOU dictate the eating schedule around here. If you've got a dog that likes to fetch, only fetch on your terms, not when the dog is pleading for you to play with him.

The dog has to know that all the toys he plays with are YOURS not HIS. You should be able to put away his toys without any kind of fuss from the dog.

He has to consider them to be a loan of good faith. I know some of these tips may seem a bit tough. But that's the key to training. You have to be tough but fair.

All the great leaders are. But all of these tips should never be done in a mean spirited fashion. The purpose is to train the dog, not punish him, just for the sake of punishing him.
